    A lot of people are put on high BP medication every day and a lot also come to the pharmacy and ask me,” what else can i do to improve the high blood pressure? This is actually a great question because optimizing your treatment with some healthy lifestyle choices can prevent strokes, heart attacks, kidney damage etc

    Anyway, here are 5 ways you can enhance your high BP treatment. If you do not have high BP, these lifestyle modifications can help prevent or delay getting high BP!

    1. Reduce your salt intake-limit the salt you add when cooking, avoid fast foods, avoid food with high salt content and avoid processed foods
    2. Eat foods rich in whole grains, fruits, vegetables… and reduce foods high in sugar, saturated fat and trans fats and consumption of alcohol
    3. Engage in physical activity most days of the week-this should be a mix of both cardio and strength training
    4. If you are obese, try as much as you can to reduce your weight. Particularly important is the waist circumference, you wanna keep the ratio between your waist and height below 0.5
    5. Stop smoking-there are so many benefits to smoking cessation-improving BP is just one of many
